Screwing up allocation of focus points isn't as big a deal as screwing up attribute points. You gain 1 attribute point every 4 levels, so these are much scarcer. By the time I hit end game, I usually have more focus points than I need. Messing up attribute points though, can lock you out of certain high end perks.
