It should have gained thickness over the past week and anglers report good fishing for 15 to 18 inch rainbows on night crawlers. Washoe Lake covers an area of 5,800 acres when full and the big lake has a maximum depth of 12 feet. It is managed as a warm water fishery and contains white bass, Sacramento perch, channel catfish, brown bullhead, carp, wipers (white bass x striped bass hybrid), and white crappie.

Western Nevada’s rivers and lakes are prime for fall fishing. The increase in water over the last year has really done wonders for our gamefish. The Truckee and Carson Rivers have been fishing very well for both spin and fly anglers. The East Walker is down to 200cfs which is still high for easy wading, but fishing remains incredible.
