I disagree. If you want to match to the cardiology fellowship of your choice, go to the best IM residency program you can get into. Very unlikely that Miami cardiology would take its best IM resident over the best IM resident coming out of Hopkins, Duke, or MGH.Unlike residency, fellowship is 12 months to obtain a very specific skill set. Whether that’s due to over applying and top people pulling in greater numbers or due to dilution of the pool (so many people over applied that it makes more people vying for every spot it’s now random chance) or if there’s more waves to come, really no way to know.Joining you here..
