The problem was found in either the software or hardware of the microprocessor. Mine does step a bit when the pedal is pumped fast, but I do get a soft start. This is a beta test machine mind you. Supposedly the arc start is 10 amps less than the 25 amps from the ProTig200. Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR".The cost of the parts was around half the cost of a new unit and there’s no guarantee it would fix it. It’s a bummer because I liked this welder. The new protig 205 seems to be a lot better and doesn’t have these issues, must be why they discontinued this model. I haven’t bought a new one yet. May 22, 2021 · Better warranty. More adjustibility on many settings, 2&4T settings and it comes with a finger switch. Better price, torch and also the outlet for a water cooler. Lots of pluses and the only negative ( which I wouldn't call it one) is the digital display on the Vulcan. Yeah it's definitely a better machine.
