William Lindsay served in the House of Representatives from 1931-32, and was a staunch supporter of Bob Dole, holding a dinner for him during Dole's first senate campaign. Shortly before his death, the city of Emporia renamed the 1940 Civic Auditorium in his honor. William Lindsay died of cancer in 1973 in Newman Memorial County Hospital.
